Project requirements are reviewed and understood. A solution and a layout are created and accepted. The customer issues the purchase order.​ The purchased solution, options, and terms are reviewed with the customer in the PO Confirmation meeting.​The primary task during this phase is engineering design. This is where engineering confirms and finalizes the solution and commercial aspect is updated if required. Target milestones are communicated to the customer. The design is presented to the customer, and the final floor is approved. Customers are encouraged to address potential changes prior to the approval of final drawings and product configurations. The impact of design modifications increases as the project progresses. ​Materials for the machine build are received. Equipment is manufactured, commissioned, and tested. The project team conducts an internal Factory Acceptance Test (iFAT), and all internal quality requirements are passed. The project manager regularly checks in with the customer to provide the status of the equipment and adherence to the project schedule.​The equipment is evaluated by the customer at the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). ​The approved equipment ships to the customer’s location: installation and startup onsite training are executed. The service technicians in the field provide status updates to the customer throughout the startup process. The customer accepts the startup of the machine in writing. No outstanding service items remain.​The team ensures that the customer has the support needed: case management, warranty, preventative maintenance, service contracts, aftermarket parts sales. Formal training classes are offered.
